Spotlight of the week: Stacey Reynolds

Stacey Reynolds is a stay-at-home mom currently living in Del Rio, Texas (3 miles from the Mexican border). Nelson, her husband, is an Air Force Pilot and Stacy comments that “I truly believe that each assignment is what you make of it!” Stacey is the daughter of one of our fellow swappers—Wyonne Templin. Stacey is the mother of two daughters—Madigan (Maddie)-- age 4 and Emma--age 3. As a former teacher, Stacey says she is preparing to enter the homeschooling world. Stacey loves to read, spend time outdoors and find great bargains. Stacey started scrapbooking with construction paper and rubber cement when she was a senior in high school and has always loved crafts. These days she enjoys making cards and altering things, but basically anything in the paper crafting arena. Stacey’s favorite colors are turquoise and pink and her favorite embellishment is glitter! Stacey comments that she has... “thoroughly enjoyed this swap and look forward to receiving cards each month from such a talented group of ladies!”

Welcome, Kathy Weaver!

Kathy Weaver, the newest member of our card swap group, lives in North Ogden, Utah. Kathy grew-up on a farm in the tiny town of Gilbert, Arizona with three brothers and two sisters. Some of Kathy’s fondest memories are hiding in the tops of citrus trees and lobbing grapefruit at the passing motorists on the country road that passed by the farm. A not-so-fond-memory is the terror she felt when one of those cars stopped after a grapefruit went whizzing by (no harm done, but that cured Kathy of her “pastime”). Kathy has been married to Bob for almost 19 years and they have one son, Mitchell (age 17). Kathy also has four stepchildren, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is an adorable grandmother who likes to play with and spoil her grandchildren. Besides card making, Kathy loves taking road trips with her “boys”. Kathy works as a Bids & Proposals Coordinator for Jetway (a manufacturer of passenger boarding bridges—the walkways that connect the airplane to the airport) in Ogden, Utah. (Kathy and Melanie worked together for 16 years!) Kathy has impressive organizational skills, an infectious sense of humor and is a great listener! Thanks for taking Cindy’s place in the swap, Kathy—we are thrilled you’ll be swapping with us!

Spotlight of the week: Monica Peters

Monica Peters is a stay-at-home mom who lives in Tigard, Oregon (a suburb of Portland). (Monica and Mikey are scrapbooking buddies.) Monica has been married to Ron for 21 years and they have two boys, Jarod (13) and Cory (8). (She also has a very feisty kitty named Zoe.) Monica started scrapbooking in 1997 and began cardmaking about five years ago ONLY as a way to use her leftover scraps. Monica says that cardmaking is an obsession now equal to scrapbooking. Her proudest scrapbooking moment was when a layout about her brother-in-law was published in the September issue of Simple Scrapbooks. Monica can often be found plugged into her iPod puttering around her yard. She has also been trying to be more of a regular at the gym. Monica says she loves to get all of her household chores done and curl up with a good book. She enjoys recipes for quick and easy meals (so she has more time to scrap)! Monica’s favorite colors are orange and green and they show up frequently on her layouts and cards. Monica comments that she, “…loves being in the swap and am always wowed and inspired by the cards I receive every month.” We are glad you are in our swap, Monica, as your cards wow and inspire US!

Question of the week: What is your favorite vacation destination?

Here is another non-scrapbooking/card making related question of the week...

What is your favorite vacation destination and why?

I think I must have Spring Fever and need a break, because I have vacation on the brain. (I have nothing planned at the moment--I just want to get away!)

Spotlight of the week: Rita Rhodes

(Rita doesn’t have any photos of her herself, at this time, so here is a postcard from her “neck of the woods”!)

This week’s spotlight shines on Rita Rhodes from Jackson, Missouri. Rita is a mother of two, a grandmother of six and a great-grandmother to five! Wow—what a posterity! Rita has been stamping for 10 years and comments she “…couldn’t do all this card making if I wasn’t retired.” Rita is in two swaps—our “Card Chicks” swap plus a local swap. She says she is, “…hooked on making cards and everyone I get from the ‘Card Chicks’ is an inspiration.” Besides paper crafting, Rita says she cooks “when she has to”. Rita’s favorite color is blue and her birthday is June 4! We are glad you are in our swap, Rita!
